Fire Training, Extinguishing Flames

FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINING

Midland Fire will assist you in providing all of your training needs, relating to health and safety in the workplace. We arrange many different types of training, from a hands on fire extinguisher experience training demonstration course (pictured below), fire warden, fire marshal training courses, as well as various first aid courses to suit any requirement.

All of the courses that we offer, can be completed at your establishment, helping you to save time and money and the need to arrange travel or accommodation for your staff in attendance.

The 'responsible person' in each establishment, that is the person tasked with fire safety, must ensure their employees are provided with adequate training, either initially at the time of their employment, or perhaps when their job role or responsibility changes, or a significant change of the equipment used, occurs. It is essential to ensure that key members of staff, know how and when to use the correct fire extinguishers, to maximise efficiency of the evacuation in the event of an emergency, where it is essential to call in the fire brigade. This safeguards the lives of everyone within that establishment however big or small.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Anyone who has had fire awareness or fire warden training, but without any practical experience.
Any persons who may be required to use fire extinguishers in the work place.

WHAT DOES THE COURSE COVER?
The course consists of an in-depth briefing on fire precautions regulations and legislation, chemistry of fire and how it spreads, types and classifications of fire, common causes of fire, hazard awareness, reduction and recognition of different fire extinguisher types and their usage.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN ATTEND THE SESSION?
To maintain the best levels of focus on the training event we prefer to restrict training sessions to groups of no more than eight people. If you have more than eight people we are still able to accommodate you, by having more than one training session.
WHY SECONDS COUNT:

The video below shows how little it takes for a fire to spread, in less than ninety seconds the fire had completely engulfed this "mock up - living room".

Anyone sleeping upstairs would have very little time to escape.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER EXPERIENCE TRAINING

Our qualified and experienced training staff will demonstrate how to use a fire extinguisher in the event fire and will invite staff to get hands-on experience by setting off LIVE fire extinguishers in order to see how the appliances work.

There is nothing quite like "hands-on" practical experience, to increase the ability and enhance the confidence of staff, when dealing with situations outside of their normal routine.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Following the practical demonstration, your staff will be invited to ask any questions they may have, about the various elements of the training course.

Upon completion of the course we issue a Training Certificate which will include the names of all of the people who were in attendance.

The video below highlights the disasters which can occur if wrong decisions are made when dealing with a chip pan fire.

FIRE WARDEN & FIRE MARSHAL TRAINING COURSES

Our Fire Warden and Fire Marshal Training courses are held periodically throughout the year and can be standalone or shared courses. Availability can be difficult at busy periods.

Both courses identify and allow delegates to handle and use a live fire extinguisher. Your staff will also receive a more in-depth knowledge, regarding the risks of fire and its outcome, if left unchecked, they will learn how to complete a fire drill and what to look out for in the event of a real fire emergency.

The course material contains a Fire checklist which can be easily adapted to any workplace and act as a reminder for checks that should be regularly carried out.

Course materials include a workbook with detailed information. Each candidate will receive a “Fire Warden / Fire Marshal” High Visibility Vest to be worn over clothing or uniform when the fire-drill is being undertaken.
