THE MOST IMPORTANT FIRE EXTINGUISHER ACCESSORIES
Midland Fire Limited provides accessories and parts for all types, sizes, and manufacturers of fire safety and fire prevention equipment. Our premium range Fire Blankets are manufactured in the U.K. Fire blankets are a triple ply (three layer) fire-proof quilt housed in a plastic box which should be located in all kitchens. Their intended purpose is to be wrapped around a person whose clothing has caught on fire. They also have the advantage of being the perfect tool for a chip pan fire as they will starve the fire of oxygen thus preventing the spread of fire. Fire Blankets are an essential purchase for boats, motor-homes, caravans, homes, businesses, and all kitchens or anywhere there may be a chip-pan or a deep-fat-fryer.
In 2015 an overhaul of the entire fire safety industry saw all manufacturers of fire blankets come under scrutiny as they were rigorously tested against chip pan and other flammable liquid fires. Out of all of the manufacturers of fire blankets being supplied to the UK market there were only three companies whose fire blankets passed their tests - one of which was our supplier of fire blankets. A company based in Bilston UK who were the first company in the world to achieve certification to the latest revision of “BS-EN-1869:2019”, the current standard for Fire Blankets in the UK and Europe.
The new revision included some important changes and for the first time assessed the performance of fire blankets against both cooking oil fires, as well as other flammable liquid fires, testing the blankets against both types of fire gives the fire blankets a multi-purpose application.
Midland Fire have been selling Jactone fire blankets since the 1980’s and we were very proud that they supply one of the best fire blankets on the market. which in turn saved us a substantial problem in having to recall any non-conforming fire blankets.
We also offer a range of multipurpose welding drapes and curtains, as well as a wide range of fire extinguisher, and bespoke covers manufactured to any exact requirements for items which may need to be protected from the threat of fire.
These polyvinyl chloride (P.V.C) covers work really well in public buildings where delinquent fingers like to fiddle, or factories where heavy duty machinery such as trolleys may otherwise damage the body of a fire extinguisher.
Our photo-luminescent fire extinguisher identity signage depicts where extinguishers are housed. Each sign has pictographs as well as clearly visible wording illustrating what each piece of equipment is for, what it can, and cannot be used on. The photo-luminescent material in the signage we provide absorbs light by day and reflects this back when there is no light, or when the light is being blocked by smoke, thus assisting the evacuation of anyone who may be trapped within a building by fire, it is for this reason that all fire extinguishers must have relevant signage by law. There must also be a “Fire action Notice” at every entrance and exit and all exits must be clearly visible along a fire exit route.

Fire Blankets have two main purposes. The primary use is to put out the flames of a clothing fire.
The secondary purpose of a fire blanket is to protect a user when dealing with a chip-pan type fire, where upon lying the blanket on top of the chip pan will starve the fire of oxygen, extinguishing the flames.
A fire will re-ignite if it has not had sufficient time to cool, therefore we suggest it is left in place overnight.
